Trusted flagger reporting

Reported something and the platform did nothing? We can flag it for you.

The Foundation for Social Welfare Services, through BeSmartOnline!, is appointed as a Trusted Flagger by the Malta Communications Authority under Article 22 of the EU Digital Services Act. Online platforms must process our notices with priority.

First, is this the right place?

Yes, use this page if…

You've found content that may be illegal and involves a child or young person in Malta, and you want us to flag it to the platform.

Child sexual abuse material?

Report it to ChildWebAlert instead. It's anonymous and handled by our hotline analysts.

Upset, scared or need advice?

Call 179 or chat online. We can help you decide what to do. In danger, call 112.

What we can flag

For example:

Intimate images of a minor shared without consent

Sextortion Threats

Fake accounts impersonating a child

Deepfake nude images

Accounts grooming children

Serious threats or harassment of a minor

We can only flag content that may be illegal. We can't make a platform remove content, and the final decision rests with them.

What we need from you

Platforms act faster when a notice is precise. Please gather these before you start.

1

The platform or app
For example Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Discord, Roblox, a website.

2

The exact link to the content
Use "Share" → "Copy link" on the post, video, profile or comment. A link to a profile alone is often not enough.

4

What the content is and why it's harmful
A few sentences in your own words, and when you first saw it.

5

Who is affected
Their age, and your connection to them (yourself, your child, a student).

3

The username of the account
Exactly as it appears, including dots, underscores and numbers.

6

Your report to the platform
When you reported it, any reference number, and the platform's reply. Screenshot the reply.

7

Screenshots, with care
Screenshots of messages, threats or profiles help. Never screenshot, save or send nude or sexual images of anyone under 18. Describe them instead.

8

How we can reach you
So we can ask questions and tell you what the platform decided.
